Workshop Highligt
Marketing Maven Club of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Tathawade, successfully organised “Workshop on Effective PowerPoint Presentation Skills” on 22nd January 2026. The workshop was designed to equip students with practical skills to design impactful PowerPoint presentations that effectively capture and retain audience attention. The session focused on helping students understand that a good presentation is a balance of strong content, visual appeal, and audience engagement. Through structured explanations and real-time examples, students were introduced to the fundamentals of slide design, content flow, and visual storytelling.
During the workshop, students learned how to make presentations more interesting by using Microsoft PowerPoint tools such as animations, images, content alignment, and transitions in a meaningful and professional manner. Special emphasis was placed on avoiding clutter and overuse of effects, ensuring that each slide supported the speaker’s message clearly and effectively.
The workshop also covered essential design principles such as colour theory and the use of mood boards to maintain visual consistency and emotional alignment with the presentation topic. Students were guided on how to select appropriate colour palettes based on audience, purpose, and content tone. By the end of the session, participants gained confidence in creating visually cohesive, engaging, and audience-centric presentations suitable for academic and professional settings.
Workshop Objectives: Detailed Overview
1. Understanding effective and visually appealing presentations
This workshop aims to help students understand what makes a presentation truly effective and visually appealing. Students will learn that good presentations are not just about adding content but about presenting information clearly, attractive, and easy to understand. The session focused on how layout, spacing, fonts, and visuals work together to create a professional and polished PPT that instantly captures attention and leaves a positive impression on the audience.
2. Using MS PowerPoint tools to create interactive and interesting slides
The workshop also focuses on teaching students how to use Microsoft PowerPoint features effectively to make slides more interactive and engaging. Students are guided on the smart use of animations, images, content placement, and slide transitions to enhance storytelling without overdoing effects. The session emphasizes how animations can be used to reveal information step by step, highlight key points, and maintain audience interest. By learning to balance visuals, motion, and transitions, students were able to create dynamic yet professional presentations that improve audience engagement and overall presentation impact.
3. Structuring content for clarity and flow
Students were trained to organize presentation content in a logical and structured manner so that ideas flow smoothly from one slide to the next. The workshop emphasized techniques such as clear introductions, well-defined sections, and concise conclusions. By learning how to break complex information into simple, connected points, students will be able to deliver their message more effectively and avoid confusing or overwhelming their audience.
4. Engaging and retaining audience interest
A key objective of the workshop was to teach students how to engage and retain the audience throughout their presentation. Students learnt the importance of storytelling, relevant examples, visuals, and interactive elements to maintain attention. The session will highlight how reducing text, using visuals wisely, and aligning slides with verbal explanation can make presentations more interesting, dynamic, and impactful.
5. Understanding color theory and emotional impact
The workshop introduced students to the basics of color theory and explain how different colors influence emotions, perception, and mood. Students learnt how colors can communicate meaning, create emphasis, and shape audience responses. By understanding warm and cool colors, contrast, and color harmony, students will be able to use colors strategically rather than randomly in their presentations.
6. Selecting appropriate color palettes based on purpose and audience
Students were guided on how to choose suitable color palettes based on the presentation topic, purpose, and target audience. The resource person explained how professional presentations require subtle and balanced colors, while creative or promotional presentations may allow bolder choices. This objective helped students to understand that color selection should align with the message and context to enhance readability and audience connection.
7. Using mood boards for visual consistency
The workshop familiarized students with the concept of mood boards and their importance in maintaining visual consistency across PPT slides. Students learnt how mood boards help in deciding colors, fonts, images, and overall design style before creating the presentation. This approach ensured that all slides follow a common theme and look cohesive, professional, and visually appealing.
8. Creating theme-based presentation designs
Students were trained to design theme-based presentations that align with the tone and objective of the content, such as professional, creative, persuasive, or informative. The workshop demonstrated how design elements should support the message rather than distract from it. These objective enabled students to create presentations that feel purposeful, well-designed, and aligned with the subject matter.
9. Building confidence in presentation design and delivery
Finally, the workshop aimed to enhance students’ confidence in designing and presenting impactful, audience-centric PPTs. By gaining practical knowledge of design principles, color usage, and engagement techniques, students felt more prepared to present in academic, professional, and corporate settings. This confidence will help them communicate ideas more effectively and stand out as strong presenters.
