Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School believes in celebrating innovation and empowering entrepreneurship. With this perspective, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School has taken a significant step in nurturing intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial mindset of students with the establishment of its pre-incubator cell in the name of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School Startup and Innovation Cell (DYPBS S&IC) under Government of India’s Ministry of Education’s Institution Innovation Council. This initiative is designed to harness the creative potential of students and faculty members, enabling them to transform their innovative ideas into successful startups. Since its inception, DYPBS S&IC has made remarkable strides, resulting in incorporation of six innovative startups (Furry Oasis, Creative Compass, Earthwise Innovations, Krushnam Exports and YR VERMICOMPOST and WT Media Pvt. Ltd.) under Government of India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs. DYPBS Startup and Innovation Cell is a significant step in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution.

With a commitment to providing the necessary support, resources, and mentorship, this initiative has already yielded remarkable results with the incorporation of six innovative startups. As the cell continues to evolve and expand, it promises to be a driving force for positive change in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Institute’s Startup and Innovation Cell have been established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to innovation and advancing the eco-system. The students run the cell to practice and encourage entrepreneurship in the institute communities and explore entrepreneurship as a career option. Faculty representatives are the facilitator to help the students develop an entrepreneurial mindset and refine their leadership skills. The objectives of the cell are:

  • To develop an entrepreneurial mindset among students in solving entrepreneurial issues related to the business or the organization
  • To promote innovation and create a vibrant innovation ecosystem at the institute
  • To provide pre-incubation of ideas

The learning outcomes of the cell are:

  • Mastering oral and visual presentation skills in presenting ideas

Brief Report

Progressive Education Society has organized State level inter-college Street Theatre Play Competition with an object of creating awareness, empowering the youth, and utilizing right to freedom of speech and expression positively.

Street Theatre Play Competition performed in the open and public area of our college. Social issues like ill effect of social media, importance of cleanliness, Role of Media, Dowry demands, female feticide, ban on use of Plastic bags, road Safety etc. related to youth and community were tackled through these street theatre plays competition with vista to change the society slowly into a better place to live in.

Thousands of students from various colleges had registered in this competition. Cash Prizes awarded to best three teams and two best characters to encourage efforts of participants.

Our students performed the Play on Superstition, Name “SOCH”.

Superstition still exists in our society but way to follow superstition are different. We spread the awareness regarding modern superstition activities that our society is following the same.

Process

Theatre is the coordination of the various members of the creative team, such as the performers, musicians, designers, and others, to bring the script to life. This element can be considered the work-in-progress stage of a production, and it's the director who typically leads this effort.

We focus on these 12 elements of theatre, Role and character, relationships, situation, voice, movement, focus, tension, space, time, language, symbol, audience, mood, and atmosphere.

Student Council is a representative structure through which students in the college can become involved in the affairs of the institute, working in partnership with the management, staff, and students for the benefit of the institute and its students. Student Councils can create a sense of ownership of the institute and its activities among the student population.

ANTI-RAGGING COMMITTEE

With reference to Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999, UGC Regulation on Curbing Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009 and AICTE notification no. F.No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 dated 1st July 2009, Anti Ragging Committee has been constituted in the institute to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student and to provide for the healthy development, physically and psychologically, of all students.

Rotaract Clubs are the youth wing of Rotary International. Rotaract Clubs bring individuals over 18 years of age together to exchange ideas with community leaders, and to develop leadership and professional skills. The members work to take action through service, from the cities to the villages. The members decide how to organize and run their clubs, manage their funds, and plan and carry out their activities and service projects.

Institute has a Rotract Club managed by students. The club aims to develop leadership and professional skills and enhance teamwork through humanitarian service and experiential learning. The Rotract club carries out different activities and service projects. The objectives of the club are:

  • To create awareness and understanding about humanitarian issues
  • To provide students with the opportunity for humanitarian service
  • To motivate students to make a difference by being a good citizen

The learning outcomes of the club are:

YUVA is a college sports event organized by the Institute every year. This three-day sports event includes indoor and outdoor games like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, tug of war and chess. The learning outcomes Yuva are:

  • Physical growth and mental alertness
  • Emotional stability and develop self-pride
  • Work in a team and learn self-discipline in acquiring skills necessary to the sport.
  • Learn to make decisions and operate under pressure.
  • Respect the necessity for authority and the needs of the group
  • Attitude building and critical thinking

The social club is established to build a strong base and network between the institute and the social organization to encourage young social entrepreneurs to contribute to the growth of society. The social club supports the institute's student community in pursuing its social ambitions. It supports student futures to underpin their curricular and co-curricular, personal, entrepreneurial and social goals. The club helps in developing social leaders of tomorrow, delivering actionable insights through grass-root research, bringing together social entrepreneurs, thought leaders and key players in the business, government and philanthropy to enhance social impact, Initiating the discussion with these organizations for a probable tie-up / joint activity, finalizing a social organization for subsequent visits/everyday activities, organizing various social movements in association with social organizations/on our own for the benefit of society and exposing the students to the importance of “Social Responsibility” of citizens of India.
