Report on Industrial Visit

Overview:

On 10th February 2026, I visited the Parle Products manufacturing plant at Vadgaon as part of an industrial visit organized by my college School of Business and Strategy. This visit helped me understand how a large FMCG company manages manufacturing, quality control, automation, hygiene and pricing strategy. The plant was very clean, well-structured, and systematic. I observed that most of the work was done using automatic machines, especially in the packaging department. Due to automation, less manpower was required, which improves efficiency and reduces errors. The HR Head explained that Parle is very strict about raw material quality and manufacturing processes because Parle-G biscuits are consumed by all age groups, from small children to old people. The visit gave me practical exposure to concepts I studied in operations management, production and marketing.

Observations

Cleanliness & Hygiene:
• The plant maintained very high hygiene standards
• Workers followed safety and cleanliness rules strictly
• Entry was controlled to maintain food safety standards

Automation in Manufacturing:
• Most processes were fully automated
• Automatic machines were used for:
• Mixing
• Baking
• Packing
• Due to automation, less human involvement was needed, reducing errors

Quality Control:
• Strict checking of raw materials before production
• Continuous monitoring during manufacturing
• Quality is important because the product is eaten by all age groups

Manpower Management:
• Limited number of employees due to automation
• Employees were well-trained and disciplined
• Clear division of work and responsibility

Pricing & Packaging Strategy
Question asked to the HR Head -

There are many price ranges of Parle-G biscuits available. Which one is
produced more and why?

Answer from HR Head:
• 10 Parle-G pack is produced the most because:
• It is sufficient for one person at one time
• 10 coin or note is easily available with everyone
• It suits daily consumption
• Large family packs are mostly sold in D Mart, where families prefer bulk
Buying which shows Parle uses smart pricing and pack-size strategy based on customer
behaviours.

Summary of the Brand

Parle-G is one of the most trusted and popular biscuit brands in India. It is known
for its affordable price, nutritional value and mass consumption.

Key Brand Highlights:

• One of the highest selling biscuit brands in India.
• Consumed by children, adults and senior citizens.
• Strong presence in urban and rural markets.
• Known for value for money pricing.
• Available in multiple pack sizes to suit different customer needs.

During the visit, we learned that Parle focuses more on volume-based sales rather than premium pricing, which helps them reach every section of society.

Conclusion:

The industrial visit to Parle Products Pvt. Ltd. was very informative and valuable. It helped me understand how a leading FMCG company manages large-scale production, automation, quality control and pricing strategy. This visit bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical exposure and enhanced my understanding of operations, marketing and supply chain concepts. It was a great learning experience and very useful for my studies.
