To prepare future managers to lead responsibly in a data-driven and risk-prone digital

An expert session on “Cyber Risk, AI and Business Decision-Making” was organized for MBA
and PGDM students to highlight the growing intersection of cybersecurity, analytics, and
strategic management. The session was delivered by Krishna Sawe, Senior Security Researcher
at Microsoft.
The session began with the thought-provoking premise that every modern business runs on data,
every decision involves risk, and every operational error leaves a digital footprint. Mr. Sawe
emphasized that cybersecurity is no longer confined to IT departments; it has become a
boardroom-level concern directly influencing business strategy, brand reputation, regulatory
compliance, and customer trust.
Through real-world case references and practical insights, he explained how cybersecurity, data
analytics, and Artificial Intelligence collectively shape business outcomes—from strategic
expansion and innovation to crisis management and stakeholder confidence. He illustrated how
AI-powered threat detection, predictive analytics, and real-time monitoring systems help
organizations proactively manage cyber risks rather than react to breaches.
A significant focus of the session was on the evolving role of managers in a digitally connected
ecosystem. Mr. Sawe highlighted that modern leaders are expected to:
1.Integrate cyber risk assessment into strategic planning.
2.Make data-driven decisions while balancing ethical and compliance considerations.
3.Collaborate effectively with technology teams to safeguard organizational assets.
4.Understand that digital trust is a competitive advantage.
The interactive discussion enabled students to understand that cyber risk is not merely a technical
issue but a critical business reality that influences growth, governance, and long-term
sustainability.
The session was highly insightful and practical, equipping students with a forward-looking
perspective on managing cyber risks while leveraging AI and analytics for sustainable business
growth. It reinforced the idea that in today’s world, digital resilience is as important as financial
performance.
