An insightful Alumni Guest Session was organized for HR specialization students, featuring Sonia Sulhyan. The session centered on the theme “Training Needs Identification: Business Priorities and HR’s Delivery Role” and offered a dynamic platform for bridging academic concepts with practical HR applications.
The session focused on the strategic importance of aligning Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives with organizational goals. Ms. Sulhyan emphasized that effective Training Needs Identification (TNI) is not merely an HR process but a business-driven exercise that directly impacts productivity, performance, and organizational growth. She explained how HR professionals must collaborate closely with business leaders to understand performance gaps, future skill requirements, and strategic priorities before designing training interventions.
Through practical examples and industry insights, students learned structured approaches to identifying training needs, including performance analysis, competency mapping, stakeholder consultation, and data-driven assessment tools. The discussion highlighted how HR can ensure measurable impact by linking training outcomes with key performance indicators (KPIs) and business results.
The interactive session encouraged students to think critically about HR’s evolving role—from an administrative function to a strategic business partner responsible for delivering tangible value. Real-world scenarios shared by the speaker helped students understand the importance of analytical thinking, communication, and strategic alignment in L&D functions.
The session proved to be highly informative and application-oriented, equipping students with practical insights into aligning HR initiatives with organizational strategy and delivering measurable business outcomes.
