Objectives:
The MoU signing ceremony and the L-PAC initiative were undertaken with the following objectives:
1. To establish a strategic partnership between Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School and AIILSG for promoting environmental sustainability.
2. To support the implementation of the Localizing Plastic Action Through Communities (L-PAC) initiative in collaboration with UNICEF Maharashtra.
3. To create awareness about plastic pollution and sustainable waste management among students and community members.
4. To empower youth and children as change-makers in promoting responsible environmental practices.
5. To encourage community participation in reducing, reusing, recycling, and responsibly managing plastic waste.
6. To integrate sustainability education with experiential learning through community-based projects and outreach activities.
7. To strengthen collaboration between academic institutions, local communities, government bodies, and development organizations for environmental conservation.
8. To promote responsible citizenship aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
9. To encourage innovation and leadership among students in developing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
10. To contribute towards building cleaner, greener, and more resilient communities through collective action.
Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune, marked a significant milestone in its commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG), Mumbai for the implementation of the Localizing Plastic Action Through Communities (L-PAC) initiative, supported by UNICEF Maharashtra.
The collaboration aims to promote sustainable plastic waste management practices through community participation, awareness generation, and youth engagement. The L-PAC initiative focuses on empowering students, children, local communities, and other stakeholders to become active participants in addressing plastic pollution and promoting environmental responsibility.
The MoU reflects the shared vision of both institutions to foster environmental stewardship through education, capacity building, community outreach, and collaborative action. By integrating sustainability initiatives with academic learning and social responsibility, the partnership seeks to develop environmentally conscious citizens capable of driving positive and lasting change.
The MoU Signing Ceremony brought together representatives from Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, AIILSG, Mumbai, and distinguished guests associated with the L-PAC initiative. The ceremony highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the growing challenge of plastic pollution through education, awareness, and community engagement.
The representatives shared their vision of creating environmentally responsible communities by encouraging behavioural change, promoting sustainable practices, and involving educational institutions as key partners in environmental conservation.
