Objective
• To develop students' professional grooming and corporate etiquette for workplace readiness.
• To create awareness about personal branding and its impact on career growth.
• To enhance students' communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• To prepare students for corporate interactions, interviews, meetings, and workplace professionalism.
• To build confidence through appropriate dressing, professional behaviour, and effective communication.
Activity Details
1. Introduction to Professional Grooming
The session began with an overview of professional grooming and its importance in today's corporate world. Students were informed that professional success depends not only on technical knowledge but also on personality, appearance, communication, and behaviour. The importance of creating a positive first impression and maintaining a professional image throughout one's career was highlighted.
2. Communication Skills and Conversation Techniques
Students learned practical techniques for initiating and maintaining professional conversations. The resource person demonstrated how to ask open-ended questions, maintain eye contact, offer genuine compliments, use an appropriate handshake, actively listen, and communicate with confidence. Special emphasis was given to respectful listening, avoiding interruptions, and developing meaningful professional relationships.
3. Personal Branding and Online Professional Presence
The session focused on building a strong personal brand. Students were guided on maintaining an updated LinkedIn profile, using professional profile photographs, writing appropriate designations, and ensuring that their WhatsApp display picture, status, and other social media profiles reflect professionalism and credibility.
4. Professional Communication Etiquette
Students were introduced to workplace communication standards, including telephone etiquette, email writing, meeting etiquette, and virtual meeting protocols. They learned the importance of speaking clearly, using professional language, avoiding slang, proofreading documents, maintaining punctuality, and participating effectively in online meetings.
5. Power Dressing and Corporate Appearance
The resource person explained how appropriate dressing influences confidence, credibility, and professional image. Detailed grooming guidelines were discussed separately for male and female professionals, including formal attire, accessories, footwear, personal hygiene, grooming standards, and workplace dress code. Students understood that dressing professionally reflects respect for the organization and contributes to workplace success.
6. Practical Demonstration and Interactive Learning
Interactive demonstrations and discussions enabled students to identify appropriate corporate attire and professional behaviour. Students actively participated by sharing their opinions, asking questions, and discussing real workplace situations. The workshop created awareness about common grooming mistakes and how to avoid them.

The interactive nature of the workshop enhanced students' confidence and prepared them to represent themselves professionally during internships, interviews, and future corporate careers.
