Objective

The Academic Orientation Programme was conducted with the following objectives:
1. To welcome the newly admitted PGDM Batch (2026–28) and introduce them to the academic environment of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School.
2. To familiarize students with the legacy and achievements of the Dr. D. Y. Patil Group.
3. To create awareness about the institute's AICTE approval and NBA accreditation, emphasizing its commitment to quality education.
4. To introduce students to the Director and institutional leadership while communicating the institute's academic expectations and values.
5. To explain the Vision, Mission, and core values of the institution and their alignment with management education.
6. To provide a detailed overview of the PGDM curriculum framework, programme outcomes, credit distribution, and curriculum structure.
7. To familiarize students with semester-wise courses, specialization options, and experiential learning opportunities.
8. To explain the innovative teaching-learning pedagogy, including case-based learning, simulations, live projects, industry interactions, and experiential education.
9. To orient students to the institute's evaluation system, assessment methods, and academic regulations.
10. To highlight the importance of real-time industry exposure, particularly in sales and marketing, for enhancing employability and professional competence.

The Academic Orientation Programme for the PGDM Batch (2026–28) was organized by Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune to familiarize the newly admitted students with the institute's academic framework, learning ecosystem, curriculum, and expectations from the PGDM programme. The session aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the institute's vision, academic philosophy, regulatory approvals, curriculum design, and teaching-learning methodologies.
The orientation began with an introduction to the Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, highlighting its legacy of excellence in education, healthcare, research, and social development. Students were introduced to the institute's national recognitions, including approval by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and NBA Accreditation, reflecting the institution's commitment to maintaining high standards of management education.
The participants were also introduced to the Director, who welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities available at the institute. The Director emphasized the importance of discipline, innovation, industry engagement, ethical leadership, and continuous learning in shaping successful management professionals.
The session further covered the institute's Vision and Mission, programme outcomes, curriculum framework, credit distribution, curriculum structure, semester-wise course offerings, learning pedagogy, evaluation system, and the significance of real-time learning through industry exposure, particularly in sales and marketing.
The orientation commenced with an overview of the Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, showcasing its distinguished contribution to higher education through institutions recognized for academic excellence, innovation, and professional development.
Students were informed about the institute's AICTE approval and NBA Accreditation, demonstrating adherence to national quality standards and continuous improvement in management education.
The Director addressed the students, emphasizing the institute's commitment to academic excellence, ethical values, innovation, entrepreneurship, industry engagement, and holistic personality development. Students were encouraged to actively participate in academic, co-curricular, and professional development activities throughout their PGDM journey.
The academic team presented the Vision and Mission of the institute, explaining how they guide curriculum design, teaching-learning practices, research, and student development.
The session included a detailed explanation of:
• Programme Outcomes (POs) and graduate attributes expected upon completion of the PGDM programme.
• Curriculum Framework aligned with industry requirements and emerging business trends.
• Credit Distribution across core courses, electives, value-added courses, certifications, internships, projects, and experiential learning components.
• Curriculum Structure, including semester-wise progression and specialization pathways.
• Semester-wise Course Structure covering management fundamentals, functional specializations, analytics, entrepreneurship, leadership, and emerging technologies.
• Real-time exposure to Sales and Marketing through field projects, live assignments, internships, industry visits, and corporate interactions.
• Innovative Learning Pedagogy involving case studies, business simulations, role plays, experiential learning, project-based learning, flipped classrooms, guest lectures, and industry engagement.
• Evaluation System, explaining continuous internal assessment, assignments, presentations, quizzes, case analysis, projects, mid-term examinations, end-term examinations, internships, and overall academic performance evaluation.
Students were also informed about academic policies, attendance requirements, code of conduct, mentoring support, placement preparation, and various student development initiatives offered by the institute.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the orientation programme, students were able to:
• Understand the legacy and educational philosophy of the Dr. D. Y. Patil Group.
• Recognize the significance of AICTE approval and NBA accreditation in ensuring quality management education.
• Gain familiarity with the institute's Vision, Mission, and academic objectives.
• Understand the structure and outcomes of the PGDM programme.
• Develop clarity regarding the curriculum framework, semester-wise courses, and credit distribution.
• Appreciate the importance of experiential learning and real-time industry exposure.
• Understand the teaching-learning methodologies and evaluation system followed by the institute.

Conclusion
The Academic Orientation Programme successfully introduced the PGDM Batch (2026–28) to the academic philosophy, curriculum, and learning ecosystem of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School. The session provided students with a clear understanding of the institute's quality standards, academic framework, programme outcomes, innovative pedagogy, and evaluation processes.
By emphasizing experiential learning, industry engagement, ethical leadership, and academic excellence, the orientation laid a strong foundation for students to embark on their management education with confidence and purpose.
