Objectives:
The session was conducted with the following objectives:
1. To create awareness about the NPTEL and SWAYAM online learning platforms and their academic benefits.
2. To encourage students to enroll in certification courses offered by premier institutions such as IITs, IISc, IIMs, and other recognized universities.
3. To promote self-paced learning and continuous professional development through online education.
4. To enhance students' technical, managerial, and domain-specific knowledge through certified online programmes.
5. To familiarize students with simulation-based learning and its role in experiential education.
6. To develop analytical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills using business simulations.
7. To bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical business applications.
8. To improve students' employability by encouraging the acquisition of industry-recognized certifications.
9. To motivate students to develop lifelong learning habits and stay updated with emerging business trends and technologies.
10. To support holistic academic development by integrating digital learning resources with the institute's curriculum.
Report on Session:
Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune, organized an Awareness Session on NPTEL–SWAYAM and Simulation Courses to familiarize students with online learning opportunities that complement classroom education and enhance employability. The session aimed to encourage students to leverage nationally recognized online certification programmes and experiential learning platforms to acquire industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills.
Participants were introduced to the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) and the SWAYAM platform, which offer high-quality online courses developed by premier institutions such as the IITs, IISc, IIMs, and other leading universities. The session also highlighted the importance of simulation-based learning, which enables students to apply theoretical concepts in realistic business scenarios through virtual simulations, case studies, and decision-making exercises.
The programme emphasized the role of continuous learning, digital education, and practical exposure in preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the corporate world.
The session began with an overview of NPTEL and SWAYAM, highlighting their role in democratizing quality education by providing free and affordable online courses across diverse disciplines. Students were guided through the registration process, course structure, certification procedures, examination patterns, and the benefits of earning certifications from prestigious academic institutions.
The resource persons explained how NPTEL–SWAYAM courses complement the PGDM curriculum by offering advanced knowledge in areas such as management, business analytics, finance, marketing, operations, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, communication skills, and emerging technologies.
The session also introduced students to Simulation Courses, demonstrating how virtual business simulations replicate real-world organizational environments. Participants learned how simulation-based exercises improve strategic thinking, leadership, teamwork, negotiation, financial decision-making, marketing strategy, operations management, and crisis management.
Interactive discussions and demonstrations showcased how simulations provide hands-on learning experiences, allowing students to make decisions, analyse outcomes, and develop practical managerial competencies in a risk-free environment.
