Report on Session:
As part of the Induction Programme for the PGDM Batch 2026–28, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized an insightful workshop on "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", conducted by Ms. Hema Anand. The workshop aimed to equip students with timeless principles of personal effectiveness and leadership that contribute to success in both academic and professional life.
Ms. Hema Anand introduced students to Stephen R. Covey's renowned framework of the Seven Habits, emphasizing the importance of character, discipline, and continuous personal growth. She explained each habit in detail—Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw—and illustrated how these habits can be applied in everyday life as well as in organizational settings.
Through engaging discussions, practical examples, and interactive activities, the workshop encouraged students to reflect on their attitudes, behaviors, and decision-making processes. Participants learned the value of taking initiative, setting meaningful goals, managing priorities effectively, building mutually beneficial relationships, communicating with empathy, leveraging teamwork, and committing to continuous learning and self-renewal.
The session also highlighted the relevance of these habits in developing leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, resilience, and ethical professionalism. Students were encouraged to adopt a growth mindset and integrate these principles into their academic journey, internships, and future managerial roles.
An interactive question-and-answer session enabled students to share their perspectives, discuss personal experiences, and seek guidance on implementing these habits in their daily routines. The engaging format of the workshop created an environment of reflection, collaboration, and active participation.
The workshop concluded with the message that lasting success is built on strong character, consistent habits, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Students were motivated to practice the Seven Habits as guiding principles for achieving personal excellence, academic success, and professional effectiveness.
Overall, the workshop was highly enriching and inspirational. It provided students with practical tools for self-development, effective leadership, and lifelong learning, reinforcing Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School's commitment to nurturing competent, ethical, and future-ready management professionals.
