Objectives of the Session
- To introduce students to the vision, mission, and objectives of the Center for Business
Analytics & Research (CBAR).
- To create awareness about the significance of business analytics and data-driven decision
making in modern organizations.
- To familiarize students with analytical tools, research methodologies, and emerging
technologies in business analytics.
- To encourage participation in analytics-based projects, research activities, certifications,
hackathons, and industry collaborations.
- To develop analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills essential for
business professionals.
- To motivate students to explore career opportunities in business analytics, data science,
artificial intelligence, and related domains.
Report on Session:
The Center for Business Analytics & Research (CBAR) organized an orientation session for
the PGDM students to introduce them to the Centre's vision, activities, and opportunities in the
rapidly evolving field of business analytics. The session was conducted by Dr. Asha Kiran, Head
of Academics, who shared her expertise on the growing importance of analytics in business
decision-making and organizational success.
During the session, Dr. Asha Kiran emphasized the role of business analytics as a strategic tool
for transforming data into meaningful insights that support informed business decisions. She
highlighted how organizations across industries increasingly rely on data analytics to improve
operational efficiency, enhance customer experiences, optimize business processes, and gain a
competitive advantage.
Dr. Asha Kiran introduced the various initiatives undertaken by the Centre, including analytics
workshops, data visualization sessions, research projects, case study competitions, industry
interactions, certification programmes, and hands-on training in analytical tools. She encouraged
students to actively participate in these initiatives to strengthen their technical competencies and
practical understanding of analytics applications.
The session also focused on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine
Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, and Data
Visualization. Students were introduced to the importance of analytical tools such as Excel, Power
BI, Tableau, Python, SQL, and other data analytics platforms that are widely used in the corporate
sector. Through practical examples and industry use cases, Dr. Asha Kiran demonstrated how
analytics enables organizations to make evidence-based decisions and solve complex business
challenges.

oncluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students discussed career
opportunities, required technical and analytical skills, certification pathways, internships, and
research opportunities in the analytics domain. Dr. Asha Kiran motivated students to cultivate a
data-driven mindset, continuously upgrade their technical knowledge, and actively engage in
experiential learning to become future-ready professionals.
The orientation session successfully provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the
Center for Business Analytics & Research and its role in promoting innovation, research, and
industry-oriented learning. The programme inspired students to participate in the Centre's
activities, develop analytical capabilities, and prepare themselves for rewarding careers in
business analytics and data-driven management.
